Poilievre: Food prices the highst since 1981

The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, issued the following news release after today’s press conference:
“The Liberal government’s uncontrolled spending and irresponsible politics have resulted in an inflation driven cost-of-living crisis. Rapidly rising prices are making it more expensive for Canadians to live their everyday lives.”
With gas prices at record-highs and food prices continuing to rise 11.4 per cent in September – the fastest year-over-year pace since 1981 – Mr. Poilievre said his Conservative Party was proposing “common cents” solutions like axing the carbon tax, stopping payroll tax hikes, and capping spending with a Pay-As-You-Go Law requiring the government to find a dollar of savings for each new dollar of spending.
Mr. Poilievre added that the costly Liberal-NDP coalition works against the interests and well-being of hardworking Canadians. He noted earlier in the week that despite worries of a looming recession, the costly coalition voted against his motion to exempt home heating from the carbon tax to give some relief to Canadians.
With the crime rate rising steadily since the Liberals were elected in 2015, Mr. Poilievre remarked that instead of enforcing stronger laws to ensure that victims are protected and violent criminals serve mandatory prison time, the Liberals care more about the well-being of criminals rather than victims.
During his first press conference as Leader of the Conservative Party, Mr. Poilievre also discussed the need to list Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, offer more support to Ukraine in their conflict against Russia, develop Canada’s energy sector, resolve immigration backlogs, and for the Party to build stronger relations with ethnic communities in Canada.
Mr. Poilievre concluded by commending ethnic media outlets in Canada for their selfless work in representing minority and diaspora communities across the country, and for ensuring that everyone has access to key information and breaking news
